ABOUT US

The Japanese Animation Association of Winnipeg (JAAW) is an anime club located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The club has been situated at the University of Winnipeg as a recognized group since its beginnings in October 2002.

The JAAW seek to provide a comfortable atmosphere for its members to watch and enjoy anime in a theatre setting. As well, the club seeks to provide a place for fans to make friends with similar interests, create connections and enjoy what anime has to offer.

The JAAW has regular anime meetings every Sundays from 2:00pm - 8:00pm (or later) which include a wide variety of anime titles and games.

For safety reasons, as of March 2005, the JAAW anime meetings require a pass to enter. Attendants must hold JAAW membership or “temporary pass” status. “Temporary Pass” status allows a guest to check out the club for 3 meetings. After the “temporary pass” expires, further attendance must be recognized with JAAW membership status. Please see the Membership section for information on JAAW membership, including fees, rules and privileges.

As of December 2005, any persons wishing to attend a JAAW meeting must email the co-ordinator to be placed on the visitor list. This is for security reasons, being a weekend at the University of Winnipeg and central in the city, we and University of Winnipeg security wish to know of non-UW student visitors to the campus for safety reasons (Thank you!).
